16 Craft Beer Cans for Halloween!

Halloween is a holiday. Not the kind of holiday in which you get the day off, but a holiday nonetheless. That means that along with a big bowl of candy, you're going to also want to have some beer in the fridge. This is where we come in. Here are 16 different canned craft beers that will pair perfectly with Jack-O'-Lanterns, homemade and store bought costumes, dogs dressed like Star Wars characters, poorly applied zombie make-up, and of course horror movies being shown on network television. Enjoy!

Wild Onion Pumpkin Ale | Wild Onion Brewery
Lake Barrington, Illinois

America's first pumpkin ale in can! Wild Onion began canning their Pumpkin Ale in 2010. Spicy, earthy, with some brown sugar sweetness. Available in IL, MO, NE, and PA

Upslope Pumpkin Ale | Upslope Brewing Company
Boulder, Colorado

Gold medal winner at the 2011Great American beer Festival. Upslope's Pumpkin Ale is brewed with Baby Bear pumpkins from Boulder-based Munson Farms. A custom blend of six spices rounds out the flavors of this 7.7% pumpkin brew. Available in CO and TX

Pumpkan | Wachusett Brewing Company
Westminster, Massachusetts

Who doesn't love a cleverly named beer? The baby brother of Wachusett's Imperial Pumpkin Ale, Pumpkan comes clad in a well-design can. Earthy, malty, and packing a balanced blend of spices, this is a great example of the style. Available in MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, and VT

Yunkin' Punkin' Ale | Manayunk Brewing Company
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philly's first canning brewery has issued quite a few options with the help of a mobile canning outfit. The brewery's Yunkin' Punkin' Ale is brewed with real pumpkin. "This seasonal favorite is the one true indication that fall has arrived. The aroma of nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and clove jump out of the glass creating an experience much like eating a slice of pumpkin pie on a brisk autumn afternoon." Available in PA

Pumpkinhead | Shipyard Brewing Company
Portland, Maine

Shipyard brews a LOT of this beer. One of the brewery's biggest sellers was made available in cans for the first time last year. A spiced wheat ale with familiar aroms and flavors of pumpkin pie. Available in almost every state.

Fall Hornin' Pumpkin Ale | Anderson Valley Brewing Company
Boonville, California

Fall Hornin' is new to cans this year. "With a brilliant, deep copper hue and creamy beige-colored head, our Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale has inviting aromas of caramelized malt and baking bread with highlights of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and seasonal spices. The pleasantly creamy mouthfeel and silky body embrace the sweet caramel flavors and tang of spices (with just hint of hops) that ends in a smooth, round finish." Cans had limited distribution so let us know if you have any extras!

Wynkoop Pumpkin Ale | Wynkoop Brewing Company
Denver, Colorado

Wynkoop's Pumpkin Ale is the lastest offering in their "Even Smaller Batch Series"  This is a "gently spiced English-style brown ale enhanced with pumpkin three ways: fresh roasted, pureed and flaked." There aren't any bull testicles in this one...and we're okay with that. Available in CO

Pumple Drumkin | Cisco Brewers
Nantucket, Massachusetts

Pumple Drumkin. Fun to say and fun to drink. Inside this ridiculously adorable can is an easy-drinking pumpkin beer with familiar pie spices and sweet pumpkin flavors. Available in cans for the first time as part of Cisco's steadily growing canne lineup. You don't need to hop a fairy to Nantucket for this one, it's available in AL, DC, DE, GA, NC, SC, VA, NJ, NY, CT, RI, NH, ME, MA, VT, and MD

Pumpkin Patch Ale | Eddyline Brewing Company
Buena Vista, Colorado

Pumpkin Patch Ale went into cans for the first time last year. This year Eddyline went with an updated, and printed, can design featuring artwork by Colorado artist Jesse Crock. Inside the can is a beer with earthy, sweet pumpkin notes and balanced spices. Available in CO

Pumpkin UFO | Harpoon Brewery
Boston, Massachusetts

Looking for something a little different from a pumpkin beer? Try Harpoon's UFO Pumpkin, an unfiltered wheat beer with pumpkin and spices. Soft and smooth on the palate wth great pumpkin flavor and subtle spices. We really enjoyed this one. Available all over the country.

Pumpkin Porter | Four Peaks Brewing Company
Tempe, Arizona

Another departure from the pumpkin beer norm. Four Peaks' Pumpkin Porter is a favorite among locals and the arrival of cans this year has made many folks very happy. Dark, rich, and malty with some very present pumpkin flavors. Everything comes together very nicely. We really enjoyed this one. Available in AZ

Old Forge Pumpkin Ale | Old Forge Brewing Company
Danville, Pennsylvania

Formerly known as Smashing Pumpkin Ale, Old Forge began packaging their Pumpkin Ale in cans this year. The brewery describes it as  "a unique pumpkin session ale brewed with real pumpkin, brown sugar, subtle spices, and vanilla." Available in PA

O'Fallon Pumpkin Beer | O'Fallon Brewing Company
O'Fallon, Missouri

Cans of O'Fallon Pumpkin Beer could easily be used as decorations around the house for Halloween. Another new pumpkin ale available in cans this year, O'Fallon describes their Pumpkin Beer as being "'like pumpkin pie in a bottle...we add 136 pounds of real pumpkin to the three-barley mash and then season the finished beer with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves." Available in AK, AL, MS, MO, IL, IN, KS, IA, WI, PA, KY, MI, OH, TN

He Said Belgian-Style Tripel | 21st Amendment & Elysian
San Francisco, California

Leave it to 21st Amendment to not only bring more interesting beers to the market but also to put them in very cool packaging. The San Francisco based brewery teamed up with Seattle's Elysian Brewing to offer not one but two different styles of beer - both being called He Said. The bonus is that these are packaged so you get two of each. This, their Belgian-Style Tripel is a golden-hued beauty that is brewed with brewed with pumpkin puree, pumpkin juice, galangal, and terragon. Read the whole story HERE. Available in CA, OR, WA, AK, ID, MN, OH, MA, NY, NJ, DC, MD, DE, PA, VA, GA and NC.

He Said Baltic-Style Porter | 21st Amendment & Elysian
San Francisco, California

The Baltic-Style Porter version of He Said is brewed with pumpkin puree, Vietnamese cinnamon, and ground caraway. Like the Tripel this one comes in at 8.2%. Both are worth putting in a snifter and enjoying their complexities. Available in CA, OR, WA, AK, ID, MN, OH, MA, NY, NJ, DC, MD, DE, PA, VA, GA and NC.

Sweet Potato Ale | Piney River Brewing Company
Bucyrus, Missouri

Nope, its not a pumpkin ale. Piney River Brewing Company became the first to can a Sweet Potato Ale when they released this local favorite a few months ago. The brewery describes it as a "malt forward ale featuring the flavors of roasted sweet potatoes, spices and vanilla with a balanced hop profile, a subtle vanilla and spice aroma and a smooth finish." We say its hands down delicious. One of the best seasonal brews we've had and certainly worth hunting down. Available in MO
