Top 6 Star Wars Themed Beer Cans
The Star Wars world stretches far and wide and seems to have infiltrated every possible commercial industry - and craft beer is no exception. Plenty of beer geeks out there have a love of the sci-fi series and apparently more than a few brewers do too. Here are our Top 6 Star Wars Themed Craft Beer Cans! Cheers!
A very appropriate name for this style of brew. Something Brewing's Dark Side is a 5% schwarzbier brewed with plenty of German noble hops for a crisp, smooth finish to go with plenty of rich, roasty malty flavors. Put down that light, boring beer and come to the dark side.
Call it a coincidence or a clever naming convention, Wyoming's Snake River Brewer Company gave their English-style Brown Ale a name that resonates with Star Wars fans everywhere. OB-1 or "organic beer number one" is made with 100% organic malt and hops so nothing nasty can get in the way of this beer's force (which is 4.9%).
New Zealand's Garage Project has been absolutely killing it for the last few years. Their beers represent the totally sought after intersection of incredible quality and amazing package art and design. Lack of Faith is a 7.5% Black IPA that was originally brewed for a Star Wars event at Golding's Free Dive - a craft beer bar in the brewery's hometown of Wellington. The name comes from a quote from Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode IV in which he tells admiral Motti that he "finds his lack of faith disturbing" and then promptly uses the force to choke him. How perfect of a name is Vader for a Cascadian Dark Ale (a.k.a. Black IPA)? Oregon's Gilgamesh Brewing had originally been bottling this 6.4% black beauty before moving to cans earlier this year. To add some additional flavor to this beer, the brewery ages it on lightly roasted coffee beens from local roasters, The Governor's Cup. (Image: Instagram @brewsterson49th)
You've got to love the design on this one. Two Australian brewers - Australian Brewing Company and Feral Brewing - got together to brew Storm Trooper Imperial Pilsner. This collaborative brew weighs in at 8.1% and was first released, very appropriately, on May the 4th. (Image: Instagram @the_oz_man_cave)

Breckenridge Brewery Introducing Nitro Series Cans in 2016
Breckenridge Brewery Announces a New Line
Littleton, CO – December 21, 2015 - Breckenridge Brewery will introduce an all-new line of portable and versatile nitrogen-carbonated beer in the first quarter of 2016. The 16-oz can presents the ability to experience silky, smooth nitrogen-charged beer outside of the pub, even taking that experience to the great outdoors. This can promotes “nitro on the go,” for although a glass displays the cascading effects of the nitrogen head, with Breckenridge’s can design the glass is optional. The Nitro Series from Breckenridge Brewery can be enjoyed anywhere – in a glass or right from the can.
Breckenridge will launch its Nitro Series in 4-packs starting with Nitro Vanilla Porter (NVP) and Nitro Lucky U IPA, available year-round where Breckenridge beer is sold. “Vanilla Porter and Lucky U were logical choices for rolling out this ground-breaking release for us,” shares Todd Usry, Brewery Director. “We’ve built a fan base for both of these beers in recent years with nitrogen-infused draft releases. It’s time to put this beer on the shelves.” Later in the year, the brewery will begin rolling out a seasonal program in the nitro can package. The first release will be the fall seasonal expected to roll out mid-August.
The Nitro Series 4-pack is an important new addition to the brewery’s portfolio. George O’Neill, Director of Sales, explains, “We are capitalizing on strengths with the release of Nitro Series, offering our consumers another way to enjoy our bestselling beer, Vanilla Porter and a new way to enjoy craft’s bestselling style, IPA. The portability that our nitro can offers really opens the number of occasions in which the beer can be consumed. Those who enjoy the nitro experience no longer have to remain tied to the bar stool or pint glass.”
“These beers are dangerously drinkable,” adds Usry. “Nitro beers offer a different palate experience. Nitro Vanilla Porter has mellow, delicate vanilla flavor with a rich, porter base. Nitro Lucky U IPA has lots of interesting hop character without the hop bitterness – that bitterness has been replaced by a creamy mouthfeel.” The small, uniform bubbles produced by nitrogen also create a longer-lasting head. “There’s just something mesmerizing about watching a good nitrogen pour. You can drink this beer with your eyes,” concludes Usry.
Breckenridge Brewery built a new home in Littleton, Colorado, and moved primary production there this summer. Its new canning line will increase the brewery’s canning speed nearly 800%. This translates to larger volumes of its 12-oz can offerings, including its sampler pack, and the ability to hit the market with nitrogen-charged 16-oz cans.
