Mr. Pineapple
(SanTan Brewing Company)

Mr. Pineapple is SanTan Brewing Company's most recent canned seasonal release. Just in time for the long hot days of summer in Arizona is a beer which was built to quench your thirst. Although there are still a few small patches of snow on the ground where we are we're excited to crack open our first can of Mr. Pineapple and think of the warmer days ahead.

From the SanTan Brewing site:

"Winner of a silver medal at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival competition, Mr. Pineapple was originally conceived for SanTan Brewing Company’s annual Luau Day. Hazy straw gold in color, we add natural pineapple juice to a traditional wheat beer creating a refreshing tropical flavor. The pineapple is balanced with a firm malt character and a slight hint of clove. Mr. Pineapple is the perfect way to beat the heat on a warm summer day!"

Here we go...

Pour - golden in appearance with a haziness that is expected from the wheat. Very nice looking head on top. This looks soft and inviting in the glass, and also very refreshing. Where is my garnish...

Aroma - a lot of the aroma I get from this beer is from the wheat and the year. Its a little spicy with some clove or cinnamon with a bit of sweetness and tropical aroma after it settles and warms a bit.

Taste - again the yeast seems to stand out at first with the clove and bubble gum flavors which soon combine with the tropical sweetness of the pineapple. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with a slightly dry and tangy finish. What more can we say here? This is a very drinkable wheat beer with the added bonus of sporting a great pineapple flavor. Happy to see this one in cans!

Overall - tangy sweet but not too sweet with a refreshing and crisp quality that makes this a great option all summer long. The pineapple flavor really comes out in this beer and tastes delicious...oh,  and the can design makes us smile.

Note - Next month SanTan will once again be playing host to the Ameri"CAN" Canned Craft Beer Festival which will take place in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday, May 18th. This is an awesome beer festival in a fantastic location. Tons of great beer and friendly people. Check it out!
