Ten Fidy Imperial Stout
(Oskar Blues Brewery)

Here it is! The biggest, baddest, most intense can of stout you're likely to find (for now anyways). This Russian Imperial Stout's name says it all. Ten Fidy like a motor oil grade (similar to its appearance) and Ten Fidy (10.5%) like the ABV it packs. If you've yet to try this you need to get on it.

From the Oskar Blues site:

"This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt.  Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer."

Here we go...

Pour - this literally pours like motor oil and if it gets on your hands its like iodine. This stuff is strong and syrupy and inky black in color. The head is brown and thin like the top of hardcore espresso in which you can see the caffeine!

Aroma - smells heavenly, like rich, roasted coffee, dark malts and even a bit like burnt toast and teriyaki. It's a great fresh smell that I'm thinking is preserved extremely well by it being canned.

Taste - big, bold and rich! This is extra strong stout heaven right here. Tons of dark, sweet malt with some nice alcohol warming notes, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee and cocoa. Lots and lots going on here especially as it warms up.

Overall -  deceptively smooth going down and dangerously easy to reach for a second can before the first has taken full effect. The one and only Russian Imperial Stout that in a can as far as I know and definitely one that shouldn't be missed!

Would I buy more of it? - despite the price point this is a beer that I will buy singles of from time to time. It's worth it!

Note -  Ten Fidy retails for between $11-16 per 4-pack depending on where you go for beer. If you can find it on tap you might as well clear your calendar for 48 hours.
